ASIA DISASTER RELIEF FUND

Asia Harvest has responded to numerous natural disasters in Asia throughout the years, in Vietnam, India, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China and elsewhere. Not only are suffering people helped, but because of our connections with local Christians, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is also shared with those in need, and many people have come to faith in Jesus Christ.

We guarantee that every cent of donated money will be sent directly to the relief efforts in Asia. Nothing is taken out for administration or any other expense. All donations to Asia Harvest are tax-deductible in the United States.

MYANMAR - CYCLONE NARGIS

Since Cyclone Nargis struck southern Myanmar (Burma) on May 2, more than 70,000 people have been confirmed dead. The United Nations fears the number of victims may increase to hundreds of thousands due to the slow response. We are throwing our help behind the efforts of our Asian coworkers, who have many years' experience working in relief situations. They have received permission to take in and distribute 4 container loads of food, water, medical supplies, plastic sheeting for temporary shelter, blankets, and other necessities.

Your prayers and help are greatly needed and appreciated. To donate to the Asia Disaster Relief Fund, click below.

CHINA - EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

The massive earthquake that struck Sichuan Province in western China on May 12 has so far claimed 80,000 victims, while a staggering 5 million people have been left homeless. We have been travelling to this remote part of China for almost 20 years, and are in contact with local believers as they reach out to their devastated communities. Our coworkers have been given permission to distribute "Emergency Aid kits." Each kit, which costs US$110, contains a 9 sq. meter (97 sq. feet) tent, flashlights, cooking utensils, blankets, first-aid supplies, and other essentials. Those on the ground agree the most urgent need is for tents, as in many areas every single building has collapsed and the people are sleeping outside, exposed to the elements.

China Children's Project

Training Sunday School teachers in China.

Through your prayers and giving we have been able to train and equip 3,744 Sunday School teachers in China.

In China today there are more than 400 million children aged under 15, and over 500 million aged under 18. This means there are almost twice as many children in China than the entire population of the United States, or twenty-five times more than Australia. In recent years the Christian leaders in China have developed an effective project to help reach the precious children in their nation. They are training thousands of Sunday School teachers, and equipping them with specific resources. Each person attending the training has their travel costs covered, and a set of materials is given to them for free. This set of materials includes a Children's Bible, Teacher's Manual, 18 Teaching books with visual aids, 15 hours of VCD (video cassette disk) teaching, 6 CDs of 'Children's Heavenly Songs'. The total cost of $47 per set includes printing and production, storage, and transportation. It also includes the cost of bringing each teacher to the training course.

China Bible Printing

Helping Equip China's Christians with God's Word.

Current Total: 1,372,050 Chinese Bibles printed and distributed to the house churches of China.
Cost: US$1.80 per Bible

Although a limited number of Bibles are now permitted to be printed inside China, they are not enough to meet the need. Because of the tremendous growth rate of the church in China (some say 20,000 new believers each day, or approximately 7 million per year), there is a serious lack of Bibles. Millions of Christians are still without God's Word. We are partnering with several large house church networks in China in a long-term goal to print Bibles for the church. These Bibles are distributed to all parts of China, equipping the believers and helping add fuel to the fires of revival that are burning throughout the world's largest nation.

Southeast Asia Bible Fund

Helping Equip China's Christians with God's Word.

Current Total: 125,635 Bibles and New Testaments Printed in 21 languages of Southeast Asia.
Cost: US$2.70 per Bible

The Communist nations of Laos and Vietnam contain more than 250 different tribes, dozens of which had full Bibles or New Testaments translated into their languages prior to the arrival of Communism in 1975. Since then, these believers have been deprived of Scriptures in their languages because their governments oppose the spread of Christianity and Bible printing is illegal. A slightly different situation exists in the country of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), which is ruled by a brutal military dictatorship. There the need for the Word of God in a variety of languages also remains critical. In some cases, missionaries labored for years translating the Word of God for a tribe, only to have their work cut short by the change of government.

The goal of the Southeast Asia Bible Fund is to print the Scriptures in a number of different languages as the need arises. Asia Harvest has so far printed and delivered Bibles and New Testaments in 21 different Southeast Asian languages, namely Akha, Bahnar, Bru, Burmese, Chinese, Choro, Co, Hmong Daw, Hre, Jarai, Khmu, Khun, Koho, Lao, Mnong, Raglai, Sgaw Karen, Stieng, Tai Dam, Vietnamese and Wa. (click on a link to learn more about a particular tribe or ethnic group). The cost of each Bible varies from one language to the next, but  the average cost is $2.70 per Bible. Please pray with us for the many tribes and ethnic groups throughout Southeast Asia that are perishing without God's Word.

CHINA: Living Martyrs' Fund

Supporting Pastors now disabled by persecution.

Because of your prayers and support we are currently able to support 1,087 living martyrs every month.

A 'martyr' has been defined as "a Christian who chooses to suffer death rather than deny Christ, or His work... One who sacrifices something very important to further the Kingdom of God... and endures great suffering for Christian witness." (The Voice of the Martyrs)

In the rural areas of China today Christians continue to be beaten, imprisoned and tortured because they love Jesus. House church leaders have given us details of more than 1,000 Christian leaders who have been crippled as a result of torture received at the hands of the authorities. The Living Martyrs fund assists many pastors and evangelists who are now unable to work because of their injuries or illnesses. They and their families face extreme poverty and hardship. You can support one or more of these living martyrs with a donation of US$25 per month each. A prayer card will be sent to every regular supporter of this project, with information to help you pray.

Asian Workers' Fund

Partnering with Pioneer Asian Evangelists.

Because of your prayers and partnership we are currently able to support 368 Asian evangelists every month.

Asian churches give their tithes and offerings, but the economy of many areas of countries like India, China and Nepal is so poor that here is little or nothing left for "big" expenses such as sending an evangelist or a missionary to an unreached area. In other cases the church may have enough just to send the worker to the field, but is unable to support them once they are there. We only support evangelists/missionaries and not pastors, as we believe pastors should be supported by the flocks they shepherd. Please pray about whether you or your church could help in the support of these dedicated workers. A prayer card will be sent to all regular donors.

We are in contact with the leaders of literally thousands of church planting evangelists who need support. The Asian Workers Fund will assist many of those workers who are doing strategic work in Asia. Please pray about whether you, your family, home fellowship or church could help support one or more of these workers with help of $25 per month each.

Project Smile

Helping Children in Vietnam

Your generous gifts have so far helped bring a smile to the faces of 5,766 children in Vietnam.

Project Smile helps children from poor families in Vietnam who were born with disabilities such as cleft palates, cleft-lips and club feet, as well as others who need operations for burns, cancerous growths and other conditions. The cost of helping a child varies depending on the kind of surgery required, but each gift received of $60 will help a child have a better life. This pays for the cost of the operation, the travel expenses for the child and his/her parents to come to the city where the operation takes place, and the cost of an overnight stay in the hospital.

Each gift of $60 or more will receive a picture of the child that was helped, showing the child before and after their life-changing operation.

Back to Jerusalem

Asia Harvest supports the initiatives of the Chinese house churches as they send missionaries into Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist countries. This vision, given by God to the Church in China in the 1930s, is known as "Back to Jerusalem." Click here for information about how to order the Back to Jerusalem book. Gifts received for Back to Jerusalem are used to support Chinese missionaries and evangelists, to train new workers in cross-cultural skills so they can communicate the Gospel more effectively, to help run training centers that operate inside China, and other Back to Jerusalem initiatives.

Kashmir Evangelism

The four million Muslims living in the northern Indian State of Kashmir are among the most unreached and unevangelized people groups in the world. War and violence have destroyed their communities. Very few Kashmiris have ever found peace in Jesus Christ. Asia Harvest has provided finances to help Indian believers reach out to Kashmir through various strategic methods. These have proved highly effective and for perhaps the first time in history, a viable, growing Church is emerging in Kashmir. One method that has proved fruitful is a free Bible correspondence course. Many Muslim men and women have written in, asking to do the course. The results have been wonderful. Here are some of the letters received from Kashmiri Muslims in response to studying the Bible...

"Respected Teacher, Please send me a copy of your course and also a Holy Bible. Your our lessons are very interesting. May God forgive us of our sins committed intentionally and unintentionally! Amen."

"God is Great! I have read with great pleasure your books about the Christian faith. I previously thought all Christians were infidels. I have heard that you send free Christian books for study to anyone who requests. I have seen some of these at a friend's house, and we and our friends all want to study these strange teachings and learn more about the man called Jesus."

"Dear Sir, The book recently sent to me is really splendid and it is of great spiritual value. Please register me with your church, because I want to follow the True Lord. It is a great honor and I thank you for telling me."
